In response to our call as people of God to provide hospitality and caring to those in need, we will welcome persons coming to Brigid's Kitchen as guests at the family table. We will treat everyone with equal kindness. We will love each other and have profound respect for each other.
At Brigid's Kitchen we are only treating the symptoms of hunger, not the disease of inequality and oppression that causes the hunger. The disease of injustice demands the attention of all of us, and its solution will regrettably take time.
Meanwhile, the symptoms remain. People are hungry today. They cannot wait for a more just tomorrow Therefore, we are compelled to feed the poor because God desires it.
A Community Food Bank
St. Brigid's Kitchen and Pantry is an agency of the Vermont Foodbank, the largest hunger relief organization in Vermont.
The mission of the Vermont Foodbank is to gather and share quality food and nurture partnerships so that no one in Vermont will go hungry.
St. Brigid's Kitchen receives 80% of its food from the Vermont Foodbank.
Community Connections
Our community has many people who want to and do help. Our volunteers are a diverse group of people, all with the enthusiasm and drive to help our community.
During the school year many students from St. Michael School and other local schools volunteer their time towards community service.
Join us and see what can be accomplished and come connect with people in new ways.
